Map generation

The map of Saturnalia is procedurally generated and randomises every time you run out of playable characters. The edges of the map as pictured above are static and unchanging. The game has 15 octagonal shaped 'tiles' that are fitted into the large empty space in the middle of these maps. Additionally, each tile can be rotated any of 8 ways, making navigation difficult.

8 square tiles are placed to connect all openings on the 4 adjacent octagonal tiles. These tiles don't seem to contain anything of interest, except for possibly the Mouth of Truth (unconfirmed).

Getting Directions

Interacting with the various maps in town will allow you to get directions to any locations marked with an icon. If you are alone, you will get which makes you face the quickest path to your destination. If you are travelling with another character they will walk toward the destination, allowing you to follow them.

Anita's character powers are very useful for navigating the caves and finding locations not selectable on town map such as Tecla's House or the Burned Bakery.

Tiles

Tiles have been given names to make them more easily identifiable.
